Crypto PH News Recap: June 02 - 09, 2025
SEC releases final crypto rules, and that's the only news that mattered last week!
Last week, the only crypto news that matters concerning the Philippines is the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) release of its final crypto rules. The details are a bit tough concerning events and education, but more importantly, it wants to crack down on unregistered entities and scammers.
Our first article focused on Section 7 of the rules that discussed what kind of marketing is allowed and not allowed: PH SEC Final Crypto Rules Targets “Educational” Events, Ads, Airdrop, & Content
The article has been discussed in multiple FB groups, by multiple influencers, industry people etc.
(By the way, it was already on the SEC website since Friday the previous week but only got traction after the BitPinas publication.)
At the center of the discussion is the words “good faith”. For the SEC, good faith is when you are not paid to do a product review or promoting a project. This naturally raised a lot of problems, like what if someone is promoting an airdrop, which is something that could to to zero, do I need to register as financial advisor?
